Southwood produce hi-resolution digital proofs for covers and colour text, and folded low-resolution proofs for the text.

Checking Your Mono and Colour Proofs

  • Take your time when checking — this is your last chance to find mistakes before your job goes to press (making changes at this stage is expensive but sometimes necessary).
  • Mark changes directly on your proof in red pen and flag pages. If changes are necessary please provide PDF files of the corrected page(s) and a printout of the new page(s).
  • Make sure all corrections noted on previous proofs were made.
  • Check individual features of your publication/book (eg page numbers, rules and borders, etc).
  • Make sure all colours are correctly specified.
  • Confirm that all images are correctly positioned, scaled, cropped and face the proper direction.
  • Look over each page and be sure no elements are missing.
  • Check the dimensions of the book.
  • Sign the Proof Approval Form attached to your proof.
  • Return all disks if you have made any changes.
  • If the artwork was originally supplied as a PDF, changes should be made by you.

Making corrections to proofs is expensive and can delay the delivery of your book

Once your proofs are approved Southwood will output direct to plate
